The White House

Friday we went to Gettesburg, Pennsylvania. We saw a movie and their new museum. The museum was amazing. You could spend hours in there. It was great to know so much about the battle and president Lincoln. He was an amazing President. There is a room that has the Gettesburg Address on a glass window and in the background President Lincoln is resiting it. I really felt the spirit.
Afterwards we went on an auto tour around Gettesburg. It was raining so it wasn't as exciting. We went out to dinner at Cracker Barrel. It was fun. While we were driving home we were able to see the fireworks from the freeway. Everyone stopped in the middle of the freeway. It was crazy. They weren't as good as the Idaho Falls show, but we were glad to see fireworks on the 4th.
Saturday we went to Mount Vernon. It was so hot and humid, but we had a great time. It was realy cool to see George Washington's house. His backyard was breathtaking. Our camera died and so we don't have any more pictures. My sister took lots of pictures and she is going to send us some. We forgot to get more batteries.
Sunday we went to see the Washington D.C. Temple. It was beautiful. It is the biggest temple I have seen. We then went to the visitors center and saw a room dedicaded to President Hinckley. It was really neat. We weren't able to attend church so it was good to be there and feel the spirit. Andy then drove my parents and I around down town before we had to leave. We saw the Lincoln Monument and the White House. We were able to get a few pictures of the White House before the camera totally died. We weren't able to be in them, but at least we got some pictures. We had a great time on our trip. We were definitely exhausted, but we had fun. Baylee had a 4 hour knap yesterday.
We had fun being together as family. I always hate leaving them because I never know when we will see them again. I love my family so much. They mean the world to me. I am so grateful for this free country we live in. It is a great blessing. I am grateful for our wonderul families who love us and do some much for us.

Capitol Building!

The capitol building doesn't allow any food or drink. We were in there for a few hours. The kids were starving. Each day we found some shade and ate our lunch on the grass. It was very relaxing. Madelyn and Callie are playing with my hair. Later that afternoon we went to the Natural History Museum. We didn't see that much because we were so tired.

Capitol Building

We are standing in a tunnel beneath the Capitol Building. The Senators use this tunnel to get to the Capitol without having to go outside. My parents called the Senator from Indiana and we went on a tour of the capitol. We had to wait in line while standing in the tunnel.

The Park

Baylee is trying to go after the duck. She is very daring. She is not afraid to do anything. The park was fun. Baylee enjoyed being outside.

Declaration of Independence Building

We got to Washington D.C. on Tuesday morning. We went to Travis and Dana's house and visited with everyone. That afternoon we went to Costco and bought all of our food for the week. We had a good time. Wednesday morning we stood in line to see the Declaration and Constitution. The line was long and we didn't get much time to read it, but it was a good experience. Then we went to the Air and Space Museum, mostly for the kids. We had fun too. We saw all the old airplanes. All my nephews got dog tags. They wore them everyday.
